This article addresses one of the first initiatives of the NFB Research and Training Institute, the development of two weeklong science camps for blind children through a partnership with NASA and the Maryland Science Center of Baltimore. The goals of these camps are to inspire blind youth to pursue careers in science and to build confidence through opportunities to perform challenging science activities.
